I can first had relate to that, after not making a swim. Knowing I wasn't going to hear my name called by Mike Riley. Still hits me hard now. It's been a year and a half since. It has taken me this long to WANT IT again.Rae!https://www.blogger.com/profile/13176542650074883694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5162649682519952120.post-83263961739834446962011-07-18T10:29:55.529-05:002011-07-18T10:29:55.529-05:00And when I got tired/sore running my first Team Vo...And when I got tired/sore running my first Team Voice virtual 5k, I thought of how exhausted all those families are who care for a loved one in the Make-A-Wish program - if they can do it day after day, the very LEAST I can do is not quit on myself.-J.D. During my first Tri I sang "Come on feel the noise! Girl's Rock the boys!" while I was biking. I was largely biking alone, so the sound of my own voice helped. Biking was my WORST event - not to mention a little girl-power never hurts in an all women's triathlon. ;)

I remember getting through the run of my first triathlon by making a new friend on the course. We challenged each other to run to x-landmark and then would walk a little bit. I never learned her name, but after the race, she thanked me. I won't forget her ever. It was just what I needed to take to focus off my feet/aches/pains.

And finally - the reason. Sometimes, for me, it's just to prove to myself I can do something even I don't think I'm capable of. But my first triathlon I did because a good friend of mine was moving out of state and she asked me to as her last Hurrah. I'm eternally grateful to her. She didn't know it, but she started my addiction to challenging myself to reach new physical heights.-J.D.
